I don't know if this is really something to blog about...
but two weeks ago I started to feel like it was time to try potty training. For one thing, I am tired of changing diapers, and tired of washing and drying and folding diapers. For another thing, I felt like I should either do it now or wait until July, when baby brother is a couple of months old. Why did I feel that it was now or July? Well, I felt like any further into my 3rd trimester I would be too much of a whale to run a toddler to the potty, and any closer to the due date would also mean two huge "growing up" stresses for Rosemary in quick succession - potty training and becoming a big sister.
So about a week ago I started reading about potty training and talking to Rosemary a lot about it, to prepare her for what was coming.
I decided to do a version of the intense "three day potty training" method (google it if you're interested). It meant we went immediately from all diapers to all underpants (except for pull-ups at sleepytime). Some of my friends and acquaintances have used this kind of method with kids 22 months and up, and had great success, and the principles made sense to me.
And that's why for the last three days we haven't left the house. To be honest, I feel like I deserve an award, because it's really not an easy task. If anyone wants to buy me a necklace or bake me a cake, I accept. (Rosie gets lots of awards - sweets, and today, a little play kitchen that I picked up at the Goodwill last week!)
For anyone who is interested, this is how it has gone so far:
Day One: 18 accidents, 4 successes
Day Two: 9 accidents, 4 successes
Day Three: 5.5 accidents, 7 successes
Pretty amazing progress for my bright little almost two-year old, wouldn't you say?

Not bad at all! I'd bake you a cake if I could, but I'm potty training my own pup at the moment... he's been sick these past two days so his "accidents" have ended in baths. Ugh.
