cape disappointment
Someone ordered up the perfect day (Saturday) at Cape Disappointment, the westernmost point Merriweather and William (Lewis and Clark, respectively) reached on their journey of discovery. We imagined their conversations ("Terrible weather, Merriweather,") as we hiked three miles to the oldest functioning lighthouse on the west coast. And we slept in a yurt, and we cooked over a fire, and we read our books, and we watched "Searching for the Wrong Eyed Jesus," which I recommend to you if you like strange documentaries and Flannery O'Conner.

Did you find out what was so disappointing about it?
looks luscious.
Are you in Portland now?
So apparently L&C were hoping to find a good place to make camp for the winter, but the didn't find it: hence, cape disappointment. They did make a lot of salt there before moving on, though.
And Portland was Friday night. It was great. Powell's City of Books (better than the Strand, Katie) and dinner with Ramon. But I didn't take any pictures.
