a last christmas thought

Decembers, you tend to see a lot of editorials and articles and meditations about Christmas and what it is and what it should be.

This, a spiritual defense of a materialistic Christmas from Amy Julia Becker, was the best and most memorable Christmas thought for me this year. Here's a taste:

{Christmas} reflects the idea that God has entered into the material world, and through that entrance, God has declared that the material world is good and worth celebrating, if not in excess then at least through extravagant generosity.
