silver falls

We're just home from a two-night mini spring break trip to Oregon, where we listened to the Drive By Truckers and the new Joanna Newsom album (prettier than the last two, but not as immediately arresting), stayed in a tiny two-room cabin, hiked the Trail of Ten Falls, sat by the fire and looked at the stars, and of course read books(Best Music Writing of 2009 for Jack, and Gospel Powered Parenting for me (my one-thumb up review forthcoming)) and watched movies (Cold Souls, Ponyo, Blue).

Rosie likes hiking. She sings a little hiking song to herself as we walk.


The falls were beautiful. Four of the ten major waterfalls on the trail have "amphitheater-like surroundings where you can walk behind the falls and feel the misty, crisp spray."


I did take pictures of all ten falls, but I won't bore you with them. Just one or two. I think this first one is Drake Falls - and incidentally, wouldn't Drake be a cool name for a baby boy? Don't steal it. It's mine.
