california

In LA last week, I became thankful that I live in a place where people obsess over things like eating local, organic food and recycling and composting instead of living in a place where people obsess over Brittney and Brangelina.

I used to call LA county home, and I liked it. I felt free, the weather was warm, there was good Thai food, and I spent my weekends in the foothills or on the beaches. Returning to LA after living in Seattle, all I saw was a culture based on cars and celebrity. Polluted skies, congested streets, and news anchors who spend most of their time talking about American Idol and Lindsey Lohan (while secretly fuming, I think, because they haven't become as famous as David Cook or Lindsey Lohan).

Seattle isn't the city of God. But LA certainly isn't the city of angels.

Good call.

And good perspective.

Jack and Amy don't belong in LA

Portland is the city of God. Or at least Oregon is God's country.
